At 42 hectares (107 acres), Coed Tregib is part of one of the largest segments of ancient woodland in the area, and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Brimming with over 100 plant species, this beautiful wood is home to the rare hazel dormouse, fallow deer and an abundance of butterflies. With a multitude of habitats to discover, stunning flora to see and wildlife to spot, Coed Tregib is a great place to visit.

How to get to Coed Tregib
Coed Tregib is situated 1.6km (1 mile) west of the small medieval town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Wales.
If travelling from the south leading from the M4, follow the A483 from the Pont Abraham services for approximately 29km (18 miles) toward the town of Llandeilo. Turn right onto Bethlehem Road at a small roundabout approximately 0.8km (0.5 miles) before Llandeilo, and follow for around 1.6km (1 mile) until you reach the main car park, marked by a roadside wooden welcome sign.
If heading from the north, follow the A40 to the town of Llandeilo. Follow the main A40 through the middle of the town and cross over the River Towy until reaching a small roundabout in the village of Ffairfach. Turn left onto Bethlehem Road and follow for around 1.6km (1 mile) until you reach the main car park, marked by a roadside wooden welcome sign.
The nearest train station is Ffairfach, 1.2km (0.7 miles) away. There is also a train station in Llandeilo, 1.6km (1 mile) from the wood.

Facilities and access
The site has three entrances including three pedestrian access gates. One is located immediately off the main entrance car park.
The car park is equipped with an all-ability access kissing gate suitable for wheelchair users, connecting to an all-ability path, approximately 0.5km (0.3 miles) in length.
The paths within the older woodland located on the upper slopes of the site are gently sloping with narrow sections along grassy and natural woodland paths with sections of raised boardwalks across the muddiest sections. The circular track can be narrow in places and includes a stream-crossing and two kissing gates. The route is waymarked.

Coed Tregib car park is open.
The nearest public toilet is located in Llandeilo, at the main car park where the council offices and library are located. The toilets are open all year round and have disabled facilities with RADAR access.
Wildlife and habitats
Animals
Coed Tregib supports a range of wildlife. Wrens and dormice nest in the ancient woodland, butterflies inhabit the open glades and deer graze on the lush grasses. An area of species-rich meadow is maintained by cattle-grazing and the wet grassland is home to a number of grass-loving species such as marsh fritillary butterflies.

Coed Tregib is botanically diverse, with over 100 species of plant. Admire the bold bluebells in spring, take in the sweet scent of the honeysuckle or forage for sloe berries in the autumn.
